Learn to Listen to Your Body
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a slow paced, passive style of yoga where postures are held gently for three to five minutes. This style of practice targets increasing mobility of the muscles and fascia connected to the hips and lumbar spine to prevent injuries and increase bone density of the body. It is recommended for all levels of practitioners.
Chair Yoga
Chair Yoga is a class specifically designed for senior citizens and those with physical impairments that do not allow them to practice on the floor. It targets increasing blood flow, energetic flow, and mobility of every joint of the body with a sequence designed by Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama called the Meridian Exercises. This practice takes every joint into its full range of motion beginning with the toes working all the way up to the neck. It is recommended for anyone struggling with joint pain, arthritis, and degeneration of joints.
Taoist Yoga
Taoist Yoga is a blend of two styles called Yang Yoga and Yin Yoga. Yang Yoga targets strengthening of the muscles with repetitive flowing sequences. Yin Yoga targets stretching the muscles and fascia of the hips and spine using slow and static postures. This is recommended to anyone in search of a balanced practice.
Functional Anatomy and Skeletal Variation Assessment Course
The Functional Anatomy and Skeletal Variation Assessments Workshop is designed to enhance body awareness during exercise, develop knowledge of your individual postural alignment, and create a framework for a functional anatomical approach to doing any style of exercise. A functional approach focuses on exercising the whole body with a detailed understanding of skeletal variation. Through hands-on testing we will learn to assess yoga postures and other movements in exercise, exploring the impact of natural differences in our bones. Topics include: skeletal anatomy, skeletal variation, and skeletal segments and movements. This is a great study for serious and beginner practitioners to take a deeper look at their own body, and recommended for teachers of any style exercise.
Yoga Philosophy Course
Yoga Philosophy Course is based on the belief that mental and physical health are interrelated, and should be conditioned together. Yoga Philosophy Course classes involve reading sacred yoga texts, followed by a lecture and class discussions over the material.
Meditation Series
In this six week workshop, students will explore six different concepts and techniques of varying styles in meditation, building the practice from one week unto the next. By the end of the series, the student will be able to find their own comfortable routine that they can use for their own individual practice.
